Woking Ask The Experts (WATE) gave businesses from across the county the opportunity to receive expert advice gain valuable industry contacts.

Laura Holman, Economic Development Advisor for Woking Borough Council and Woking Town Centre Partnership was on hand to offer advice at the event, she said:

A concerned Woking resident has expressed his worry at a new 'disease' taking over the town.

John Hunter said he was concerned at the rapid spread of what he called 'Woking Temporary Traffic Light Disease' after being stuck at various road works throughout the borough.

He claims at least five sets of temporary lights have hampered easy commuting around the town the last few weeks.

A teenager was taken to hospital following an road traffic collision on Thursday, November 5 at 7.10pm.

The incident happened on Victoria Road at the junction with Wood Lane.

A 16-year-old male was taken to St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey as a precaution

Goldsworth Road in Woking has been closed following a road traffic collision which happened at around 2.38pm today (Thursday, 5 November).

The road is closed at its junction with Victoria Way and at the roundabout with the Coign Church. Traffic can travel along Victoria Way as normal.

The crash outside the job centre involved three vehicles, a Ford Transit van, a Fiat Brava and a motor scooter.

One man has been taken to the Royal Surrey Hospital as a result of the collision. The air ambulance attended the scene, but the injured party was transported to hospital by road.

It is anticipated the road closures will remain for the next couple of hours.

THREE people died following a tragic road traffic collision on the A322 Lightwater bypass on Monday (August 31).

Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses following the incident in which a silver Ford Focus was travelling along the bypass towards the M3 motorway at around 4.15pm, when it crossed the central reservation and collided with a black Peugeot 307 and a grey Fiat Cinquecento, both heading towards Guildford on the opposite carriageway.

Distraction burglars who stole £100 from an elderly resident are being hunted by Surrey Police.

Officers in Woking investigating the incident, which took place in Horsell last week have issued e-fits of the two suspects. The burglary occured around 10pm on Friday, July 3 in the Ridgeway area.

An elderly resident answered the door to two men, who told him there was an emergency around the corner and asked if they could use his phone. The homeowner agreed to let one of them in, at which point both offenders forced their way into the house and threatened the victim, demanding money and valuables.

A pubic meeting about the recession is being held in Chertsey Hall on Thursday May 7.

Entry is free to the hall in Heriot Road, and guests will have the chance to question MP for Runnymede and Weybridge and shadow chief secretary to the treasury, Philip Hammond.
The meeting runs from 7.30pm to 9pm and all are welcome.

Woking will benefit from a jobs boost with the opening of a new hardware store in the Lion Retail Park.

Focus DIY is due to open on January 21, with a 12,600ft garden centre, and will create 27 new jobs for Woking residents.

Woking Marks & Spencer store to close

marks-&spencer,-woking-7.jpgMarks & Spencer has announced plans to close its Woking store claiming it is no longer "commercially viable".

The announcement by M&S chairman Sir Stuart Rose today (January 7) means 35 jobs now hang in the balance at the store in the Peacock Centre and staff consultations are due to begin.
